Setup concourse on swarm with multiple worker nodes?

Hello everybody in this forum, and thank you to all contributors to this big project.

I’m new to concourse and evaluating the way to build a extensible CI/CD environment over docker swarm with several nodes. ( mainly to run docker image based microservices testing)

I’m looking for swarm stack/composer examples but can not find them

The only once from the quick start

version: '3'

services:
  concourse-db:
    image: postgres
    environment:
      POSTGRES_DB: concourse
      POSTGRES_PASSWORD: concourse_pass
      POSTGRES_USER: concourse_user
      PGDATA: /database

  concourse:
    image: concourse/concourse
    command: quickstart
    privileged: true
    depends_on: [concourse-db]
    ports: ["8080:8080"]
    environment:
      CONCOURSE_POSTGRES_HOST: concourse-db
      CONCOURSE_POSTGRES_USER: concourse_user
      CONCOURSE_POSTGRES_PASSWORD: concourse_pass
      CONCOURSE_POSTGRES_DATABASE: concourse
      CONCOURSE_EXTERNAL_URL: http://localhost:8080
      CONCOURSE_ADD_LOCAL_USER: test:test
      CONCOURSE_MAIN_TEAM_LOCAL_USER: test
      CONCOURSE_WORKER_BAGGAGECLAIM_DRIVER: overlay

This quick start example shows only the web node , but not worker nodes, and I can not understand how concouse will trigger docker images without sharing the docker sock /var/run/docker.sock

  • How can I execute multiple worker nodes with compose?
  • How concourse triggers docker images without docker socket config?

Thank you very much

I’ve found this example.

But still confused on the way how concourse will trigger other docker images inside the swarm nodes. And how these docker images could comunicate with other swarm services.
Any Ideas?

I have spent many many hours on trying to get workers to work on a Docker Swarm cluster, and I am running into exactly what this issue is talking about: https://github.com/concourse/concourse-docker/issues/50 which leads me to believe at this point in time it is not possible to run Concourse workers on Docker Swarm Clusters.
