Hi all! In case you missed it, 5 months ago we enabled GitHub Discussions on the
I wrote a blog post announcing the change where I mentioned that we’ll shut down these forums if the experiment goes well, and it has, so here I am. I think it’s time for GitHub Discussions to take over as our primary forum.
New topics can no longer be created, but replies can still be made to existing topics. In about a week I will make these forums read-only so that we can centralize discussion in GitHub. Big thanks to everyone who was so helpful here - I see you, @crsimmons and @marco-m.
I would prefer to keep the content around so we don’t lose all the Q&A, but I suspect this account will have to be shut down at some point due to boring corporate billing complications. I can save a backup, but it won’t be searchable. If anyone has any ideas for preserving the content here in a searchable way, feel free to reply.
I’d also like to know whether people feel strongly about keeping the content - as annoying as it would be to lose it and start over, it might be weird to have popular search results lead to a dead forum. Maybe we should just rip off the band-aid.
Hopefully this is the only time we switch forum providers. GitHub Discussions feels like a more permanent home, since it’s already where our community lives.
See you on the other side!
